Ask the Robot // Santa Clarita Artificial Intelligence

AI Told Him He Had More Time. He Didn't. It Nearly Cost Him His Deposit.

He almost lost his entire deposit because a machine described his contract like it was a different contract in a different state. Thousands of dollars, nearly gone, over a deadline the robot got wrong with total confidence.

The Short Version

A smart instinct that backfired

Buyer in escrow, first time, doing his best to understand what he signed. Smart instinct, because most people sign and never read. He pasted the parts about contingencies and timelines into the machine and asked: when do I do my inspections, when is my money at risk, when can I still walk away and get my deposit back.

And the robot explained it. Clearly. Confidently. Completely wrong for where he lives.

The Liar, about a clock

Contracts are not the same everywhere. How contingencies work, how deadlines run, when a deposit becomes non-refundable, all of it changes with the form you signed and the state you are in. The machine pulled from a giant pile of contracts from everywhere and described a version that sounded right and was not his. It told him his contingency period ran longer than it did.

This is the Liar again, and it is the most expensive version, because it was wrong about a clock.

The machine will explain the wrong contract with the same confidence as the right one. You cannot tell from the inside.

How close it got

So he relaxed. He thought he had another week to finish inspections and decide. No urgency, because the machine told him he was fine. Meanwhile his real deadline was bearing down. Blow past your contingency window without acting and you can lose the protection that lets you walk away and keep your deposit.

He got lucky. Something nagged at him, he asked me a question in passing, and I caught it. Your contingencies are up in two days, not next week. We moved fast and got him his protection back with almost no room to spare.

The one place you do not trust the machine

A contract is the one place you absolutely cannot let the machine be your guide, because it is local, specific, and full of deadlines that bite, and the robot does not know which version you signed. It will explain the wrong one with the same confidence it explains the right one, and you cannot tell the difference from the inside.

Ask AI what does a contingency mean in general so the word stops being scary. The second it starts telling you your dates and what you can do and when, stop and take that contract to the human whose job is to know your contract. The calendar ends more deals than bad houses ever did. The robot does not know your calendar.

Using AI for the words and a human for the decision is the whole game. If you want help putting AI to work in your Santa Clarita home sale, your business, or just learning to use it without getting burned, that is exactly what we do.

Questions People Are Asking

Can I use AI to understand my real estate contract?

Use it only for general definitions, like what a contingency or an escrow is. Never trust it for your specific dates, deadlines, or what you can and cannot do, because contracts are local and AI blends rules from everywhere. A wrong deadline can cost you your deposit.

Why is AI dangerous with contract deadlines?

Because it will describe a contract from a different state or a different form with the exact same confidence as the right one, and you cannot tell from the inside which you are getting. Deadlines bite, so this is one of the most expensive places to trust a machine.

What should I do with my contract questions instead?

Bring them to the human whose job is to know your actual contract, your agent and the professionals on your transaction, who read the real dates off the real page. Use AI to remove the fear of the vocabulary, not to run your clock.
